I am confused. On the one hand I consider myself a flaming bleeding-heart liberal. I just happen to have a preference for effective, well-designed policies based on a good mix of facts, statistics, economic/political/scientific theory, and basic ethics rather than inane culture wars and what ‘everybody knows is true’.
Yet a good portion of my (post-college) friends insist they hate bleeding-heart liberals, that I am not a bleeding-heart liberal, and that I am, in fact, a moderate. Possibly a moderate in denial.
I am unsure what conclusion to draw.
