Microsoft’s Problem (One of ’em, anyway)…

It occurs to me that one of Microsoft’s major problems is that they don’t really believe in doing anything for free or very cheap. Or at least that if you make it cheap then you should make that version crappier than an expensive version.

Their biggest competition right now isn’t from anyone that’s offering similarly priced stuff. It’s from free stuff that nearly as good as their products or something they don’t have at all.

  1. And they make it nearly impossible to use the same thing that you’ve paid big bucks for more than a certain # of times. Windows 7, one install. Publisher, I think 3. The make it nearly impossible to use their stuff in quantity. That’s why the desktop at home uses open office.
