Blattman spouts wisdom

Chris Blattman has a few posts I don’t want to let slip by.

  1. Field work in the tropics. A list of what to bring.
  2. The best argument I’ve seen in awhile for giving up and moving to China. It turns out a lot of Chinese leaders have been engineers, compared to a bunch of lawyers in the US. On the other hand, the last engineer president was Hoover and one of the engineer premiers of the USSR was Khruschev. Neither were particularly good for their countries.
  3. Getting a job in international development. I sorta think international development is a bit crazy considering the problems we already have in this country, but maybe I’ll be become inspired later in life. It’s an interesting list regardless. I didn’t realize it took so much preparatory work to get involved.
