Surprisingly True

Megan, who I often enjoy reading, has a good post from a few days ago about blogging and time. Namely that it takes a surprising amount of time to pound out an idea into a postable form after you’ve had it. Some posts are really easy and quick, especially ones that are just describing something. But other posts, the ones that involve grappling with issues that other brought up, can take an hour or two to really get worked out. And the highly technical ones involving your own subject matter can be even more time consuming (especially because you don’t want to make a mistake about something you’re supposed to be a specialist in).

Anyways, it’s been surprising to me. I now understand why the academics I read usually only have a few quick posts and at most one or two longer, more substantial posts in a given week.
